The organizer will cover the accomodation and all meals, while the journalists have to take care of their traveling costs according to usual EUSJA rules. The trip is from 28 to 30 of March. The logistics and some other necessary informations will be sent later. The closer international airport is Frankfurt, the train from Frankfurt to Saarbrueken takes about 2,5 hours.

There is space for 15 journalists.

German --> Computer-assistierte Chirurgie, künstliche Nieren, Herzpumpen, implantierbare Hörgeräte... Im 2008 eröffneten Artificial Organ (ARTORG) Center for Biomedical Engineering Resarch der Universität Bern wird biomedizinische Spitzenforschung im Dienst von erkrankten oder geschädigten Organen betrieben. Nachdem die zehn Forschungsgruppen zunächst auf verschiedene Gebäude des Inselspitals verteilt waren, sind sie seit November 2010 an der Murtenstrasse 50 in einem hochmodernen Umfeld unter einem Dach vereint.

Das ARTORG Center lädt die Mitglieder des SKWJ zu einem exklusiven Besuch ein:

Scope: To learn about the activities, meet the actors and to experience crossborder cooperation projects in life sciences in the ScanBalt BioRegion/Northern Europe. This time focusing on Northern Germany and Northern Poland at the university cities Greifswald, Germany, and Szczecin, Poland.

Key words: technology transfer, molecular medicine, industrial Biotechnology, biomaterial, crossborder cooperation, telemedicine.

Participants: By invitation of ca. 15 international scientific journalists of EUSJA (of which Switzerland is a member)
Time: Tuesday, 20.Sept. – Friday, 23. Sept. 2011

Infos: The next airport is Berlin (Tegel). There will be a bus shuttle from Berlin Tegel airport at 20:30 to Szczecin on 19 September (or when the last flight with an EUSJA participant arrives that day). On the last day of the study trip (22 September) a bus shuttle will bring the participants back to Berlin Tegel. However, they can stay even a day longer for the full ScanBalt conference.

As usual: Travel (transport to Berlin) paid by participants; all the rest (accommodation, meal, transfers) is free of charge.

The german science writer association TELI and the world leading research centre DESY (Deutschen Elektronen Synchrotron) invite you to this exclusive presstrip to Hamburg.

In addition, there will be further possibilities to learn more about the research at DESY and the construction of the most powerfull X-ray-laser in the world, the European XFEL.

Under Agora, researchers from all disciplines can submit applications for public science communication projects.  These projects can take the form of events, debates, exhibitions, films, books or works of art. To view some examples, click on the link below.

Researchers based in Switzerland as well as researchers working abroad under an SNSF fellowship are eligible to participate. Experts in knowledge transfer, public dialogue or the arts can collaborate on Agora projects.

Grants range from between CHF 5,000 and CHF 200,000 and are awarded for a maximum of three years, after which they may be extended once.

Applications can be submitted from 15 May to 15 August via the mySNF platform.
